Ninjas in Pyjamas parts ways with former Six Invitational champion Kamikaze

Kamikaze is parting ways with the team after four years in the roster.

Joao "Kamikaze" Gomes is parting ways with Ninjas in Pyjamas after four years of representing the Swedish organization. Following Julio "JULIO" Giacomelli's departure in May, Kamikaze and Gustavo "Psycho" Rigal were the only two remaining players from the team's initial roster.

Hot off a semi-final finish in the Six Invitational 2018, the Black Dragons roster signed for Ninjas in Pyjamas. With NiP, Kamikaze qualified for five Six Majors, four Six Invitationals, and two Pro League Finals.

NiP also reached two Six Invitational Grand Finals, winning the second in 2021 after defeating Team Liquid. Kamikaze was also part of the ninjas' roster that fell in the Sweden Major Grand Final against FaZe Clan.

Regionally, Kamikaze has won a Copa Elite Six, the Brazilian Six August Major 2020, and has taken part in three Brasileirao Grand Finals.

Ninjas in Pyjamas' 2022 season has been full of poor performances, starting with an early elimination from the Six Invitational 2022 while defending their title, followed by two missed Six Majors -- Charlotte and Jönköping. They qualified to the Berlin Major, though, but failed to progress to the playoffs.

Ninjas in Pyjamas' next challenge is the Six Invitational 2023 LATAM Qualifier, as the team did not manage to secure enough SI Points to finish in the Top 16 of the Global Standings. As such, they will have to face other Brasileirao teams including MIBR, Black Dragons, 00 Nation, Team oNe -- with FURIA Esports likely to join the list soon.
