Top moments from BR6 Week 3: Team Liquid skyrocket to first, déjà vu for NiP, three points separate top seven

Brazil’s third week of action has left us with some interesting scores and upsets.

Brazil’s penultimate weekend of action is now over. Team Liquid have climbed to the top of the standings after a perfect weekend. Meanwhile, only three points separate them from the seventh-placed roster, meaning every point matters heading into the decisive super weekend.

This weekend’s scores

Day 5

  • w7m esports 7-4 Black Dragons
  • Team Liquid 7-4 FURIA Esports
  • 00 Nation 6-8 TropiCaos
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-7 FaZe Clan
  • Team oNe 7-8 MIBR

Day 6

  • Team Liquid 7-2 Team oNe
  • Black Dragons 7-3 00 Nation
  • FaZe Clan 1-7 FURIA Esports
  • w7m esports 8-6 Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • MIBR 5-7 TropiCaos

Play of the weekend: Paluh 1v3

Luccas “Paluh” Molina killed Team oNe’s hopes of a comeback as he completed a 1v3 clutch with Iana in the last round of the game. He secured the final three kills while barely having to move from his place.

Seemingly prescient of his enemies’ positions, Paluh didn’t hesitate once during the play and looked in fine form to secure the win.

Player of the weekend: Paluh

Luccas “Paluh” Molina went berserk this weekend with two incredible performances against FURIA Esports and Team oNe. He averaged a SiegeGG Rating of 1,75, as he and his teammate Gabriel “AsK” Santos came in clutch in a perfect weekend for Team Liquid.

Paluh currently seems unstoppable on entry, as he is yet to concede an opening death, leading the standings with a 9-0 (+9) balance. His 2.20 Rating against Team oNe has momentarily made him the best-rated player in the league, with the exact same SiegeGG Rating (1.39) as AsK.

Surprise of the week: TropiCaos

Nobody deserves this title this week more than TropiCaos, as they defeated 00 Nation and MIBR after an incredible losing streak of 10 matches. Lucca “yektz” Tosta, who made his top-flight debut just two weeks ago, was the best player in both games, securing SiegeGG Ratings of 1.26 and 1.28.

Top moments of the weekend

Here are the most important events and storylines of the third weekend in the Brasileirao:

Four months later, it’s déjà vu for Ninjas in Pyjamas

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ losses this weekend have left the squad in ninth place with just six points, an identical situation to that in Stage 2.

First, the former world champions abruptly lost to FaZe Clan 2-7 in a match where three NiP players ended up getting SiegeGG Ratings below 0.62. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the team lost in overtime against w7m esports in the team’s first clash against former teammate Julio “JULIO” Giacomelli.

It was a very poor weekend for Gustavo “Wizard” Gomes and Gustavo “Psycho” Rigal in particular, as they averaged SiegeGG Ratings of 0.52 and 0.48 this weekend. Wizard also went 1-7 (-6) on entries, as he headed into the third weekend of action with the best rating and entry balance of the team.

Perfect weekend for Team Liquid to skyrocket up to first

After a slow start to the stage, mainly due to the team adapting to Lorenzo “Lagonis” Volpi’s IGL style, Team Liquid are now back with full force.

They defeated FURIA and Team oNe in regulation time, as Paluh and AsK led the charge for the “cavalry”. Their resurgence has come despite André “NESKWGA” Oliveira having somewhat of a shaky weekend, which continues a 0.97 SiegeGG Rating stage.

With these two results, Liquid have climbed to first place, as they head into the final weekend as one of the favourites to qualify for the November Major. They had missed out on the Berlin Major, so qualifying to the Copa Elite Six and then the Major this stage is a must for them.

Volpz leads w7m esports back to top four

Gabriel “volpz” Fernandes was the best player in both w7m esports games this weekend. With a combined number of 28 kills next to his name while on Sledge and Smoke, he was crucial for his team’s wins over Black Dragons and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Starting the weekend in seventh place with just six points, w7m esports have now climbed to fourth place. They will not be worried about missing out on SI 2023 just yet, but they must qualify for the Copa Elite Six to grab some more points. Considering w7m are yet to face 00 Nation and TropiCaos, it’s unlikely we see them miss out on the third Six Major of the year.

TropiCaos stop MIBR from climbing to first

The upset of the weekend came in the last match, as TropiCaos defeated MIBR in regulation time. MIBR struggled on attack on Bank, as they could only secure three rounds.

It was not a good game for Tassus “reduct” Issi, who ended with a negative entry balance of 1-6, leaving MIBR one man down in five of the team’s six defenses. Felipe “FelipoX” de Lucia also had a poor performance, just after he was last weekend’s best player with an average SiegeGG Rating of 1.39.

Stage 3 debutants Lucca “yektz” Tosta and Raul “kondz” Romao were the best players in the match, with SiegeGG Ratings of 1.26 and 1.17 respectively.

With this loss, MIBR were stopped from climbing to first place with 13 points. Considering that they are yet to face Team Liquid and FaZe Clan, this unexpected loss could gate keep them from the Copa Elite Six come the end of the super weekend.

PpWs goes 10-0 in entries in just two games

Pedro “PpWs” Sabino was crucial in both TropiCaos victories, obtaining a combined number of 10 entry kills this weekend – seven of them coming on the defense.

He has now climbed to fifth place in the BR6 entry kill leaderboards, with a balance of 16-10. However, the Brazilian averages a SiegeGG Rating of 0.85, only making him the fourth-best player on his team.
