Bungie teases fans with revamped returning content in Into the Light

Are we getting the Red War back?

The content drought has been hard to deal with for Destiny 2 fans following the delay of The Final Shape. This will make Season of the Wish the longest one in the game's history as it's scheduled to end on June 4 having started back in November, putting it at 189 days.

Fortunately (or sadly depending on who you ask) Bungie has experience filling these long gaps between new content drops as Season of the Lost had to be prolonged when The Witch Queen expansion got delayed in 2021 (lasting 182 days). The developers dropped the praised 30th Anniversary pack and they're aiming for something similar with Into the Light.

Bungie has been very coy about what type of content will Into the Light bring, with game director Joe Blackburn initially stating in a video update in November that's aimed at easing newcomers into the world of Destiny 2 ahead of the grand finale of the Light and Darkness Saga.

With that said, the recent February 15 This Week in Destiny blog post might have shed some light (no pun intended) on what to expect, with returning campaigns being the community's speculation.

In their blog post, the developers have confirmed that they are continuing to work on both content drops and that the upcoming update 7.3.5, will set the foundation for the forthcoming expansions Into the Light and The Final Shape.

Adding to that, with Into the Light Bungie will be "touching content many players haven’t thought about in several years."

Putting two and two together, it's immediatly clear why fans jumped to the conclusion that The Red War, Destiny 2's original main campaign when it launched in 2017, is making its return.

If Into the Light is something to catch up newer players, The Red War fits the bill of content veteran players haven't thought about or played in years, as the campaign was vaulted in November 2020.

As always, take this speculation with a grain of salt. Once we get more concrete information, we'll be updating you accordingly. For more content, check out how to get how to get the Adventurous Spirit emblem for free.
