Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War: Possible release date, weapons, maps, zombies, and more

It's time for Treyarch's next game

Call of Duty 2024

A new Call of Duty game is coming out this year and while nothing has been revealed officially, the rumors are starting to pile up. The title will presumably be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War and Treyarch Studios is the main developer behind it.

While we wait for any announcement from Activision, we have gathered all the speculation and rumors surrounding the upcoming game.

Release date

Although the game hasn't been revealed, it is easy to predict a release window since the titles follow the same path every year. With that in mind, Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War should come out at the end of October or the beginning of November 2024.

A specific release date should be announced when the first trailer gets released and once that happens, we will add it to this section.

It is safe to assume that the title will be available for both current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) and the PC. However, a release for the PS4 and Xbox One is something to be seen, with both hardware being more than 10 years old now.

Campaign

As the rumored name implies, the story of this title will take place in the early 90s during the Gulf War. According to a report from WindowsCentral, the game will focus on the CIA during this time while also dealing with the end of the Cold War and its consequences.

A report from Insider-Gaming states that the campaign will be open-world instead of the traditional mission-by-mission style every Call of Duty game has. Players will be able to explore a map, whether on foot or using vehicles, and there will also be a fast-travel system. The report compares this new format to what we see in Far Cry games.

Another detail revealed is that the main characters from the previous title, Black Ops Cold War, will return for this story, including Russell Adler.

Multiplayer

In terms of multiplayer content, the consensus is that the title will have both maps and weapons from previous Treyarch games, similar to what Sledgehammer Games did with Modern Warfare 3.

One leak pointed out that the maps WMD from Black Ops 1 and Grind from Black Ops 2 will receive a remastered version. They're probably not the only ones returning, but the usual leakers haven't mentioned other maps yet.

Other rumors

Here is a list of other rumors about this next game as we wait for them to be officially confirmed:

  • The game will have a traditional round-based Zombies mode.
  • Activision plans to have a one-week early access period to the game, unlike the 3-day early access we've seen in the previous two titles.
  • A new map is set to arrive in Call of Duty: Warzone to coincide with the game's launch.
