Invictus Gaming were given a forfeit loss against Dire Wolves due to connectivity issues that stemmed from internet problems with Singapore Internet Service Provider Singtel, according to tweets posted from iG’s players and coach.
Invictus Gaming’s coach Ellis “GiG” Hindle first reported the team’s situation on Twiter. According to him, the team has been given “a forfeit by ESL” due to “nationwide internet issues.”
The official APAC League Twitter account stated that Invictus “have been forfeited due to being unable to field a valid roster.” The APAC South roster currently has two players from Singapore, Jeremy “HysteRiX” Tan and Matin “SpeakEasy” Yunos.
GiG also brought to the table a match from the European League where Team Empire was forced to forfeit the match against Team Vitality. According to him, “some time last year Vitality vs Empire has (sic) a similar issue where French internet was down and the game was postponed.”
Invictus Gaming’s coach concluded the statement mentioning that the team is “going to speak to Ubisoft and request the game be played at a later date.”
Having won their previous two matches, the match between Invictus Gaming and Dire Wolves was highly anticipated. The result of this clash could also make a real difference in the final standings, especially in terms of the final economic prize – which goes from $15,000 for first-placed team to $7,000 for second-placed team.
