Berlin Major Day 3: the three must-watch games

The Berlin Major groups come to a close today.

A total of 16 games will take place later today in the final of three group stage play days of the Six Berlin Major. Every team will play twice, starting from 10:30 CEST (UTC+2) across two channels.

With so many games happening, it may be hard to keep a track of all of them, so here are the three biggest games to watch on day three, and why they are so important.

2:50PM -- G2 Esports vs SANDBOX Gaming

It is possible that a SANDBOX loss to Soniqs in the prior game would have already handed the group’s final playoff spot to G2. But, in all likelihood, G2 will need to win this to progress onwards.

Should SANDBOX beat G2 and Soniqs, the team would have come back from zero points on day one to reach nine at the end of the groups. G2, meanwhile, currently sit on eight and are unlikely to get any from FaZe Clan at the end of tomorrow.

It will all come down to this game, as the SANDBOX players will want to get their final revenge on Shas before he leaves G2 at the end of this event.

4:20PM -- Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Rogue

While there are more possibilities in Group A, this match will be a must win for both teams either way.

Currently, XSET are leading this group with nine points, while Rogue and NiP are on six. With Rogue and XSET set to play the struggling DWG roster, those two likely have an easier day than NiP.

This means that NiP will very likely need to win against NiP and XSET to make it to the quarter-finals and their first match is against Rogue.

A NiP loss here could end the group stage for them, while an NiP win could make it a head-to-head between XSET and NiP in the following game.

5:45PM -- Astralis vs FURIA

Should Elevate beat FURIA and Astralis beat MNM, as happened on Day 2, then we’re set for a head-to-head for the Group D’s final spot as well.

This is as FURIA will be on seven points compared to Astralis’ six, with Elevate clear in first on 11.

While FURIA won their first meeting here, 7-4, Astralis have since taken a point from Elevate and become the only team so far to do so.

Considering Oxygen are struggling and look like they won’t make it past the group stage, and Soniqs are eliminated, this may be the last chance for an American roster to make it into the top-eight.
