One year ago, the G2 Esports player won in Canadian's home as the Brazilian ended up lifting the hammer in Montreal. Today, the Brazilian made himself present and sent the purple roster back to the United States. He wants to take the hammer in front of his home crowd.
"It feels like it's going to be the back-to-back SI champions here in Brazil, it's going to be amazing, so let's cheer for it," the Brazilian said at a post-match interview after the team's win against DarkZero Esports.
While the end result was a 2-0 victory for the current sledgehammer holders, the Six Invitational 2023 champions had a slow start to the series. Heading to round nine of Skyscraper, G2 Esports were 3-5 behind the North American lineup.
"I think Ramalho's time out was super good, he just reminded us how DZ was playing so we could play more for the late rounds, because they didn't know how to execute and then they struggled in every single late round," the Brazilian explained.
Following Ramalho's timeout, G2 Esports looked unstoppable. The team focused on DarkZero's main weakness, which according to the Brazilian were the final stages of the rounds, and secured the first map.
Heading to the second map of the series, the Six Invitational 2023 champions admitted the team expected DarkZero Esports to pick Bank. It definetely made things easier for the Europeans.
Additionally, the Six Mexico Major champion praised the Brazilian fans who supported G2 Esports against DarkZero Esports. While he expected that, he knows that the truce is already over.
"It feels great because everyone knows the Brazilian crowd is amazing, but let's see how the fans are going to be tomorrow," the Brazilian concluded.
