Team Secret have qualified for the Six Invitational 2023 after defeating Outsiders by 2-0 in the grand-final of the EU SI 2023 Closed Qualifier.
In the European League, Team Secret struggled for most part of the season as the squad finished in ninth place of every stage. Heading to this weekend's closed qualifier, the team's last regulation time victory against a top-flight roster was against Wolves Esports in July 2022.
This time, however, the result has been completely different. Team Secret ran over all of their opponents, defeating Natus Vincere once and Outsiders twice by 2-0 scores, with none of their maps going to overtime.
Team Secret's victory also means that Outsiders' players, who all competed for Team Empire last season excluding Pavel "p4sh4" Koshenko, won't be at the Six Invitational 2023. It also means that Emiliano "Geometrics" Leynez will be the only Six Invitational 2022 grand-finalist in this year's edition.
Luke "Kendrew" Kendrew is the only member on Team Secret who has already played a Six Invitational, as he did so for Natus Vincere in 2020. Meanwhile, Lucas "Savage" Alves, Reece "ASTRO" Lambert, and Dawid "Gruby" Marciniak will be making their international debuts.
On the other hand, Marlon "Twister" Mello will be making his return in the international stage after parting ways with FURIA Esports after the conclusion of the Six Charlotte Major. So far, Twister has represented five teams at international competitions, adding Team Secret to what was an all-Brazilian list until today, including Black Dragons, Ninjas in Pyjamas, FaZe Clan, and FURIA Esports.
It's worth mentioning that Twister was FURIA Esports' coach when the team qualified for the Six Invitational 2021 a few weeks later after avoiding a relegation from the BR6. Now, with Team Secret, the experienced coach has done it again.
